Then you have high porosity hair! Taking care of high porosity fine hair can a daunting task as you need products that will keep your strands moisturized without weighing them down. There will be a lot of trial and error but when you have established a natural hair regimen and figured out the products that work best for your hair, it will be easier for you to care of your high porosity natural hair.
How to know if you have high porosity natural hair
High porosity means that your hair easily absorbs water, oils and other type of products.
High porosity hair is genetic because you are born with it. However, hair processing and styling treatments like straightening, blow-drying, bleaching, and other chemical applications will cause your hair to be highly porous.
If you have high porosity hair, it means that your hair is easily prone to a lot of frizz and tangles. However, it is possible to care for your high porosity natural hair and grow it long.
There are different ways to determine your hair porosity but the easiest way to find out is to stand in the shower and wet your hair. If your hair gets wet in a split of seconds, then you have high porosity hair. If you are unsure about your hair porosity, please read more here.
Apart from having highly porous hair, my hair is also fine which means that the hair strands on my head are not thick. Therefore, I cannot use too many products or products that are too heavy. You can read more about strand thickness here.
